Xerlife is very much a lifestyle aid not a calorie counting diet. It is designed to help people build sensible eating into their everyday lives rather than be a separate element to everyday living. To that end we understand that when you make a change in your eating you may need the odd snack.

Snack Mantra : “If you eat what you have always eaten you will always be the same weight”

Snacks are a contentious issues and many people’s downfall when trying to lose weight or get in shape. Quite often people snack due to boredom rather than a physiological need.

Before reaching for a snack consider if you are a) bored b) thirsty c) actually hungry.

If weight loss is your goal and you’ve introduced snacks and aren’t losing weight, you probably shouldn’t have them – so cut them down and try and give them up all together.

If weight loss isn’t your goal and you are maintaining weight without snacks, don’t introduce them.

If weight loss isn’t your goal and you are NOT maintaining weight without snacks, introduce them.

If you are heading for work and you feel you are going to need to have a snack during the working day try and prepare these in advance and take them in plastic container – try and eat half at a time rather than all at once.
